The Mask Task 626 314 kupplinadmin

COVID-19 has been a non-linear battle for everyone as we continue to take steps forward but also steps back. Some people are unable to comprehend that the steps back can’t always be controlled and have to be dealt with as a group to continue moving forward. A couple of months ago I might have told you about how sporting events could be picking up soon. Now, I’m focused on booster shots and masking indoors. Priorities change, but our actions will clearly convey our willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.

The most recent changes to the CDC guidelines came less than a week ago and have been updated to account for the rising number of cases due to the Delta variant. This strain will affect those vaccinated as well as the unvaccinated (of course) and is easily transmissible to unvaccinated individuals. The effects and symptoms are greatly reduced in those who are vaccinated and there are far fewer people hospitalized from that demographic, as well.

One of the more notable changes to the guidelines is the recommendation of masking indoors even if you have received the vaccine as the transmission rates have skyrocketed recently (especially in light of the easing of mask restrictions). Immunocompromised individuals should wear a mask regardless of the situation as they are at a higher risk and need to take extra precautions to stay safe. Vaccinated individuals are recommended to get tested 3-5 days after coming in contact with someone who has or has been exposed to COVID-19 and remains masked for 2 weeks after the encounter.

The effects of COVID mentally have been quite prolonged and difficult, but these guidelines help minimize the physical effects as well to keep our nation safe as a whole. Understanding that this is an uphill battle and that it’s perfectly fine to slip back down the slope a bit, we have to continue making the best efforts we can to protect ourselves as well as those around us.
