Being healthy can be different to everyone. Health, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is defined as full physical, mental, and social well-being, rather than just the absence of sickness. Despite this, research shows that Americans may continue to define health in a limited way. It means to be healthy when the body functions and processes of a person in good physical health are likely to be at their best. This may include regular exercise, a well-balanced diet, and enough rest are all beneficial to one’s health. This can all affect the one someone looks, feels, and acts.
Healthcare exists to assist individuals in maintaining their best health. Health is a constant goal. A healthy lifestyle gives you the ability to live a full, meaningful life. The two categories of health that are most mentioned are mental and physical health. Overall health is influenced by spiritual, emotional, and economic well-being. Researchers have found that people in better financial health, may be less concerned about money and have the resources to purchase fresh food on a more regular basis. Those who have strong spiritual health may have a feeling of peace and purpose, which can help them maintain good mental health. Being able to get help when needed should be a necessity in healthcare.
Though “healthy” may mean various things to different people and encompasses a wide range of factors there are many ways one can make themselves feel healthy and this can be different for everyone. For some it may be making time for the gym every day and for others it may be getting a certain amount of sleep every night. It is important to do what makes you feel your best and that can be defined as healthy for you.
